is God crying or clapping?

it’s official.

president obama has graduated from denzel washington’s “school of cool strides.”

last night, after delivering the news of osama bin laden’s death, ending with “… and God bless America.” my brother and i both noticed how cool obama’s stride was. the only thing missing theme music.  really, i think someone should make a video with some gangsta music playing as he walks away.

that would be hilarious. at least for me.

last night, i told my brother i wasn’t going to blog about osama’s death because i didn’t have anything to say. but alas, here i am.

the drive in to work meant i’d have a lot of time to think. especially since rain seems to kill traffic lights (makes no sense), prolonging the commute. so while staring at wet, glistening bumpers i got to thinking about how i should feel about osama’s death.

one large part of me feels excited and proud. “we got him!” Justice has been served! Go USA!

then another side asks, “how does God feel about the news?” is he clapping, or crying. is he proud or disappointed. happy or sad.

so i’m torn.

should i be happy that a tyrant, a man of evil has been removed from the world? or, should i be saddened that it’s likely he will lift his eyes in hell?

i certainly don’t think God is celebrating. so should i be?

it’s times like this where I wonder what Jesus really meant when he said “love your enemies…” it makes me ask, “how much love should i have for them.” is throwing a parade for their death violating that love?

i don’t know. i’m just asking questions… perhaps some of you have some ideas.
