Stormy Weather

In Scripture by Antwuan Malone2 Comments

Trouble don’t last always, but it does seem to linger around.  So what are we going to do about it?

I watched the GOP Debate last night and my brain kicked into overdrive. Politics completely aside, things in this nation are all jacked up. From the job loss, to the divisive, ineffective politicking, to the “scandals.”  It all needs work! Listening to the candidates, I couldn’t help but feel this sense of trouble. Trouble all around. It made me think of what Jesus said in John 16:33.  He said, “… In the world ye shall have tribulation.” Or, to translate… “Things are going to be all jacked up in the world!”

Ha! Isn’t that something? Jesus, telling his disciples that they are not exempt to trouble.

… and that made me think of Matthew 7:24-27. That’s what the video is about.  So check it out.  By the way, we make history here in the Candid Christianity Commons.  This is the first post of a new category… “About Scripture.”  Expect more from this space periodically!

Matthew 7:24-27 ,KJV

Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.  And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Wow Vince, what a testimony! God is good, and I love to hear when he steps into people's lives.. and for you, in such a dramatic way! Life is just tough sometimes, and we don't always know what to do about it. I'm glad you were able to get your life back on track! I'd like to hear about your story, if you're willing to share... antwuan[at]antwuanmalone[dot]com Oh, and thanks for checking out the video.

I was going through a horrible time in my life - horrible enough that I was considering suicide. On this particular Sunday I had gone so far as to take the gun out, seriously thinking about using it. Instead, I had a nervous breakdown, got in my car, and left to where I was staying during the week. I have no memory of that roughly two-hour drive. I just know I got there safely, and although it took a long time to fix my life, I no longer felt like committing suicide. I firmly believe that it was God's grace that kept me alive, and made sure I drove safely. I know it wasn't me. I enjoyed your video.
